Invitation to China Investment Summit

27th September 5pm-6.30pm

Nottinghamshire County Council, County Hall, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, NG2 7QP.

The County Council will be joining a Government-led trade mission to China this autumn in a bid to secure investment and business for Nottinghamshire firms.

The Midlands Engine trade mission will be headed by a senior Government Minister and include more than 50 business representatives, local government and education leaders from across the region.

Local authorities from the Midlands, including Wolverhampton, Derby, Derbyshire, Nottingham, Birmingham, Leicester and Solihull will be sending representatives as part of the delegation.

The overarching aim of the mission will be to showcase the Midlands as a favoured investment destinstion, including the development of an official partnership between the Midlands Engine and East China, focused on trade and investment between the two regions.

We already have a strong contingent from Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, with 16 businesses from the area already expressing an interest in joining the mission.

Whilst in China, Council representatives will be exploring specific opportunities for Nottinghamshire, including high-level talks with civic leaders, businesses and business organisations, focusing on promoting the county as a well-connected, cost competitive location for trade and investment.

To ensure that Nottinghamshire businesses have a voice, we would like to hear from any firms with existing links to China or with an interest in trading in China.

Ingenuity Events in partnership with The University of Nottingham

Into The Future: I Didn’t Expect That – 27th September 2016

07.45-09:30am, Tuesday 27th September 2016, Sir Colin Campbell Building, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham, NG7 2TU.

Business leaders, politicians and many others continue to ignore the patently obvious. The 2007/2008 financial crisis was ‘unexpected’, and our recent vote for Brexit came as a ‘surprise’. In this breakfast session, futurist Christopher Barnatt returns to explore the challenges and opportunities raised by the many elephants in the future room. Christopher Barnatt has been a professional futurist for over 20 years, he was an Associate Professor of Strategy and Future Studies at Nottingham University Business School and his presentations are always one of the highlights of the Ingenuity events calendar: or contact This email address is being protected from spambots. Conquering Contracts: Take Control of Your Ts & Cs – 12th October 2016

1.00-5.00pm, Wednesday 12th October, Sir Colin Campbell Building, Jubilee Campus, University of Nottingham, NG7 2TU.

Dealing with contracts is part and parcel of running a small business, but amidst the pressures of everyday business management, reviewing your terms and conditions of trade can often slip down the priority list. All businesses should regularly check their contracts and standard terms and conditions. This free session, delivered by The University of Nottingham’s School of Law, will consider both B2B and B2C contracts and aims to provide a number of pointers that a business should consider when performing such a check.
